Position: Industrial Athletic Trainer

Department: Sports and Athletics > Athletic Training

Reports to: Head Athletic Trainer

Job Summary:
The Industrial Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing comprehensive sports medicine services and promoting the health and safety of industrial athletes within a corporate or industrial setting. They will assess, prevent, and manage work-related injuries and illnesses, as well as develop and implement injury prevention programs. The Industrial Athletic Trainer will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the optimal performance and well-being of employees engaged in physically demanding occupations.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Assess and evaluate industrial athletes' physical capabilities and limitations to develop individualized treatment plans and injury prevention strategies.
2. Provide immediate and appropriate care for work-related injuries, including first aid, emergency response, and injury rehabilitation.
3. Administer functional capacity evaluations (FCEs) and ergonomic assessments to determine an employee's ability to perform job-related tasks safely and efficiently.
4. Develop and implement injury prevention programs, including pre-employment screenings, ergonomic training, and workplace safety initiatives.
5. Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective communication and coordination of treatment plans.
6. Educate industrial athletes on injury prevention techniques, proper body mechanics, and safe work practices.
7. Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including injury reports, treatment plans, progress notes, and case management documentation.
8. Conduct research and stay informed about advancements in industrial sports medicine and related fields to provide evidence-based practices and recommendations.
9. Participate in the development and implementation of emergency action plans and safety protocols in accordance with regulatory requirements.
10. Stay current with industry standards and maintain professional certifications and licenses as required.

Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or related field. Master's degree preferred.
2. Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) certification from the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA).
3. State licensure or eligibility for licensure in Athletic Training.
4. Minimum of 2 years of experience in athletic training, preferably in an industrial or occupational setting.
5. Strong knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy, biomechanics, and exercise physiology.
6. Proficient in conducting functional capacity evaluations (FCEs) and ergonomic assessments.
7. Excellent diagnostic, assessment, and treatment skills for work-related injuries and illnesses.
8. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement injury prevention programs tailored to specific job demands.
9. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with employees, healthcare professionals, and management.
10. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
11. Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
